introduction
THIS PART OF NEWFORMULA IS NOW IN COLD STORAGE. I decided to move everything over to wordpress, with a clean start. Old posts are now under archive here, but for the latest please visit newformula.org
lord, what a day.
1) not only do i have exams in a day, I have been diagnosed with an ongoing chest infection. thanks. just to make my life easier. *cough cough* . which means i slept all of 4 hours last night. not what i need...
2) I thought the company sending me to america in summer had given out their quota of j-1 visas, hence meaning i couldnt go, losing my already paid, non-refundable $750 housing prepayment. grrr. anyway, muchos begging and hassling meant they accepted me after all, too bloody right considering I have *actually* paid my registration fee, and specifially called last week to see if everything was going to be ok if i got my forms in for the visa etc this week... some people....
3) not that serious, but apple's new online music service isnt going to be supported outside the US. m*th*rf*ck*rs this was going to be the coolest thing since sliced bread, as i feel bad if i dl stuff off the net or file sharing, and this is a cheap, viable and most of all legal alternative. damnit. theres more to the world than america! again!
well, the new website is finally up and running. i actually really like this. its not as dull as the last version, it has more going on, but still is understated and chilled out. just how i like it, not too brash. so this means i really do have to get on and study now. first exam on wednesday, and i feel like i should be OK, if i knuckle down and finish the needed revision...
in other things, i feel like i have entered a new period rather than the stickyness of the last few months since the year began. i am starting not to give a shit what people think anymore, and doing my own thing, and not living my life around other peoples feelings, opinions, and so on and so forth. it feels good, unlike my stinking hangover and resulting tiredness thats killing me right now. oh yeah, im on the hungry side too, but thats easily solveable.
need to study, need to study, need to study. ah, neighbours is on tv. sweet
i wanna have bbq's all year round. this is genius anyways.

Linchpins of Aussie Kulcha: The Barbecue, Part 2 -- Ritual
according to a certain carlyn wutkee I am 'worth a 5 hour drive to delaware'. thanks mate :)
back in the UK... studying is only just kicking in today, had a semi successful day anyway. Hopefully it should continue. it has to continue. I am sorry for the half assed look the site has at the minute, I was in the process of changing it when I went away, and just before I left I noticed Optima looked crap on most non OS-X computers, and as such chucked the main default font back to Verdana, which looks more than acceptable on most OS's. I didn't however change the font on any of the other pages apart from the front one, so its all half done, like most things I ever attempt. Anyway, as soon as I get back to london and to my iMac I'll avoid revision by sorting it out, adding new pictures, etc etc. I have a few ideas to make this thing look better too. I like the orange colour, but not the buttons used above, once again, done in a rush, so i promise i'll sort it all out. honestly.
so, i am now posting to this blog from my hotel room in san francisco, using some crazy in room internet service through a tv. its just another excuse to avoid studying, and, oh dear, my exams start in just over 2 weeks.
i forgot. jet lag is a bummer.
america is, erm, unique. I am currently watching a tv show- a selection of comedy acts (who just aren't funny) performing from the gulf, presumably, with a load of patriotic, old war reminiscing, sexist and just plain weird 'jokes'. Not to mention the news coverage here, out of this world. Like a movie. Take one channel, whose show is called 'operation free iraq', showing amazingly biased reports of the war. I am grateful the british media can at least attempt to show a few sides of the story with generally informative and interesting journalism. hmm.
being in texas for all of an hour was something of an eye opener too, as well as walking through Reno airport- the first thing you see is slot machines. then more. then, well, more slot machines, and oh look, these ones play irritating music at you as you walk by. how cool. the place was just full of them.
anyway, i am now in a place with good friends and cool people, and a ton of snow falling outside the window now. sweet. can't wait for tomorrow...
